Tainted Legacy - Ruins
A flash of white, moving along a structure to his left, interrupted his thoughts. Zalenco held his torch aloft and watched, the creature stopped and looked back at him. It was a pure white furless rat, which almost glowed in contrast to the darkness, with jet-black eyes.
The animal screamed a terrible sound that vibrated Zalenco’s eardrums. He dropped the torch and stumbled backwards, clamping his hands to his ears. The rat darted up his leg and body. Zalenco swatted at the creature, trying to knock it from his cloth armor. Instantly the animal weaved around his hand, climbing higher.
Long whiskers tickled the side of his neck and white spots clouded his eyes as the rat sunk in its teeth. Zalenco’s body instinctively leaned forward and his hand shot to the location of the pain. His fingers clenched around the vermin and yanked it away, tearing a chunk of his skin along with it.
His arm snapped taut and the rat was sent flying back. Within seconds, the creature was back on the path, racing towards him again. Its white skin was now tainted red by Zalenco’s blood. It leaped into the air with its jaws spreading wide, revealing its blood-stained teeth.
Tainted Legacy - Fear
Kiya could feel the thunder of each boot fall through the well-polished wooden deck; each step resounded against another vibrating the ship itself. Soldiers crammed themselves as tightly as they could, trying to see into the darkening night sky.
The stream of fresh bodies flowing onto the deck stayed steady as more and more soldiers found their way to the top. Taking a chance Kiya got to her feet ready to rush into the throngs of people again. She managed five steps before a large imperial boot crashed into her side, sending her sliding away.
Coming to a stop at the back of the crowd, she felt another boot, and another as a second imperial tripped backward over her compressed form. She balled herself up in an attempt to keep the reports, plus her stuffed lorrma. Something she never went anywhere without, safe.
The fallen soldier got to his feet. He was a big man, bigger than most on the boat. His muscles bulged out from under the tight woven cloth that made up his uniform, and his eyes flared from behind his mask. It was only a matter of time until something like this happened. The frustration level aboard the ship was critical, and silently they blamed the Captain, even if they were all volunteers for this mission.
The soldier reached down with his big hands, and snatched Kiya up off the deck by the back of her dress. The fibers of the cloth stretched and snapped from her weight. Twirling her around to face him, her reports flew out of her grasp landing all over the deck. She only managed to hang onto her stuffed animal. The large soldier frothed at the mouth with anger. He wrenched it free of her hands. “Slaves don't deserve things like this!” He yelled, holding it front of her eyes.
It was against the law for Kiya to do anything to an Imperial. All she could do was hang in the air and watch as the soldier taunted her with it, trying to goad her into some kind of emotional outburst. Deep down she wanted nothing more than to kick the man and take the doll back. However, doing so would only result in angering her owner, Captain Kang, if not a flat out execution. Kiya understood the world she was born into. Humans were on the bottom.
Tainted - Legacy - Twins
Deceivers… imprisoners! Trapped for thousands of years! The voice drastically changed, growing louder and angry. Burning pain flooded Kuna’s body. Her toes curled against the stone floor and her arms flailed as if drowning.
Never again! Never again, will we be trapped, the Taint will grow, and the Taint will corrupt those who stand against us!
Kuna rolled back and forth along the floor, gripping her head between hands so tight that her uncontrollable fingers ripped hair from her scalp.
Kuna screamed the most agonizing scream she had ever let out in her ten years of life. Her vocal cords twisted, churned, and threatened to snap as her eyesight blurred. Water poured from her eyes pooling on the floor in thick wet puddles.
You belong to the Taint, your body is our body, and your mind is our mind. There is no escape, no freedom.
Kuna panted, gasping for air as the pain began to fade. Resistance will bring pain, servitude… reward.
She climbed to her feet, confused and terrified of what was happening to her, had a monster possessed her body? Some long forgotten beast from eons ago, trapped here by the Dwarves? “Jembi!” She rushed to her brother’s side, and tugged on the old rusty chains that held him firm in place. “We have to go! This place is cursed!”
